Mystery as woman shrinks to size of toddler after birth of her son(Photos)
Looking like a small baby , Shanti Devi, 60, spends her days cuddled up and lying on a cot, mumbling or singing alone and has become a tourist attraction in her Indian village.
Her limbs have shrunk and twisted and have become so rigid that any movement is impossible for her.She cannot open her hands and spread her legs or even tilt her head and entirely relies on her children for assistance.
Devi once stood five-feet tall but in the past 25 years she has gradually shrunk to just two-feet tall.
"I have been living like this for nearly 25 years now. This is painful. I get bored but I can do nothing on my own. I miss sitting and waking and meeting my friends or watering plants," said Devi in a hoarse voice.It all started after the delivery of her third child, a son.Husband Gangacharan Kushwaha said:
"She was perfectly healthy and leading a normal life when we got married thirty five years ago.
"Problems only started after the delivery of our third child, a son. She had become weak and very slow.After three months, she complained of severe pain in her bones that had become stiff. After a couple of months, she noticed changes in her body as she was looking smaller," "She told us but we did not believe her until we realised she had shortened by half feet in just four months. However, she could walk."
"One day, while neighbours were fitting their new thatched roof, she was looking at it and it accidentally fell on her legs. After that accident, she could not get up on her feet."Her bones had become weak and tight. She complained of severe pain and eventually lost physical strength and became bed-ridden," added the 62-year-old farmer.
While her peculiar condition baffled her family and neighbours, Gangacharan sought help from several doctors but unfortunately, no for treatment or medicine could work and heal her.
Shanti has become an attraction in her village in Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh in north India.People from far away villages throng to her small shanty to take a glimpse of her.
But Dr Pankaj Srivastava, a local physician, believes her condition looks like Brittle Bone disease or Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
He said: "I cannot say anything without diagnosis but it looks like to be a case of OI, a genetic disease where bones become fragile and break easily. But without examination, nothing could be said."

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu State, have arrested a clearing and forwarding agent, who ingested 74 wraps of cocaine while on his way to China.
The suspect,47-year-old Adibe Baloba, was caught during outward screening of passengers on an Ethiopian airline flight to China.
“Hardship and Nigeria’s bad economy forced me into drug trafficking. The exchange rate is very high and I hardly get money to take care of my family. My sponsor promised to pay me the sum of $5,000 to take the drug to China. But I was arrested before I could board my flight,”
Another suspect was nabbed trying to trick an innocent passenger with cartoons of noodles. According to NDLEA commander at the Enugu airport, Adeofe Adeyemi
“A second suspect, Onyechi Esonwunne, was caught attempting to send a luggage containing cannabis to China through an unsuspecting passenger. The cannabis was carefully prepared inside packs of noodles to avoid detection. Investigating officers are working hard on the cases and the suspects will soon be charged to court,” .
Investigation showed that Esonwunne had previously been deported twice from China ,in 2008 and May 2016.
Esonwunne also blamed Nigeria’s recession for his crime.
“I am a trader but due to the economic downturn, I turned to cannabis smuggling to cope,” he said.
The NDLEA Chairman, Muhammad Abdallah, called on members of the public to avoid collecting consignments from people.He said it was a method widely used by drug traffickers, who target innocent passengers to smuggle drugs.
“People need to be aware of this trick because rendering such assistance may just send them to prison or worse, death. This is because drug trafficking is punishable by death in China,”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have reached a temporary custody agreement .According to TMZ , Angelina will have temporary physical custody of all six of the children for the next three weeks, The deal involves therapists and random drug testing.'
-- Angelina gets temporary physical custody of the 6 kids until Oct 20th.
-- Brad gets visitation, with strings attached. The initial visit is with a therapist present and the therapist then has the power to either allow Brad subsequent unmonitored visits or insist on being present whenever he's around the kids.
-- Brad is subject to random drug/alcohol testing. As we reported, Angelina believes Brad has issues with alcohol and weed. Our law enforcement sources say Brad's first test was negative for drugs and alcohol.
-- Brad and Angelina will each submit to individual counseling. In addition, Brad, Angelina and the kids will undergo family counseling together.
We're told Angelina agreed with recommendation because her focus is to "heal" her family and her children.
Mystery in Ogun community as woman discharges maggots from private part(Photo)
Residents of Olakula area of Idiroko in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State were left shocked on Wednesday as maggots dropped continuously from the private parts of a woman identified as Iya Toheeb.
The scene turned chaotic as residents trooped out to see the woman sat in a car with the assistance of family members and sympathisers.It was thought that she might have been a victim of money-making ritual after her condition allegedly defied orthodox medication.
The Nation learnt that the woman was also brought to one of the men she was associated with, a carpenter in the community. Of the reason for bringing the afflicted woman to the man, a source at the scene who asked not to be named, said:
“The woman was brought to the carpenter who was her former husband. Her family members believed that the man may be responsible for her worsening condition that defied treatment in hospital where she was admitted for months.“Doctors were said to have advised her relatives to seek alternative medicine to her ill-health because it had gone beyond the purview of orthodox medicine.’’
Another source, who did not want her name in print, said:
“The woman had dated different men in the past and it is believed that she may have been used for money-making ritual going by what we heard from those who know her.
“She has no wound in her private part yet maggots keep dropping from her sexual organ and that sends a signal that there is more to her problem than meets the eye, particularly since doctors have asked her relatives to seek help from native doctors for solution to her problem.”
It was learnt that the carpenter, whose real name could not be ascertained at press time, made remarks that suggested the woman was being punished for her promiscuity, after which the woman’s family members decided to bring her to him for possible solution her predicament. The carpenter reportedly fled before the arrival of The Nation's correspondent.
At the scene, sympathisers helped spread a sack on the car seat on which the woman sat when the maggots continued to drop even as a stench emanating from her body fouled the air. “This is what my beauty has done to me o,” said the woman shortly before being taken away by her family members.

Baylee Curran was taking part in the Miss Greater Inland Empire pageant in California(above) when the DJ thought it might be amusing to put on Brown's track, Don't Wake Me Up ,TMZ reports.
Curran, took it all in her stride but failed to come in the top three and reportedly stormed off afterwards.
The pageant director tells TMZ the song choice was purely a coincidence.

Why couples should have sex in the morning-Nigerian Prof
Prof. Musa Yakubu of University of Ilorin has said having sex in the early morning lowers blood pressure and reduces risks of heart attack.
Yakubu of the Department of Biochemistry made the assertion in a paper, “Knocking Down the Barriers to Four O’Clock Activities and Reproductive Inadequacies”, presented at the 163rd Inaugural lecture of the university on Friday.
“Research has shown that sex boosts immune system by stimulating the body’s first line of defence and production of immunoglobulin A (IgA), against cold and fever,” he said.
Immunoglobulin A is one of the most common antibodies in the body system.Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight bacteria, viruses, and toxins.
Sex, according to Yakubu also regulates menstruation in women by influencing the levels of lutenizing hormones that control menstrual period and promote better sleep.
He said sex also releases the feel-good chemical, known as oxytocin, which enhances closeness with one’s partner and makes people feel happier for a longer period of time.
“Lovemaking of about 20 minutes reduces 150 calories,” he said.
The professor of Biochemistry postulated that sex is the most powerful creative force given to human by God for pleasure and deep companionship.
Yakubu, however, noted that any marriage in which the man or woman could not enjoy sexual intercourse or satisfy their partner in bed was a dead marriage.He said lack of sexual satisfaction had led to the collapse of many marriages in Nigeria, and urged couples to seek for solutions to the problem.
“Sexual and reproductive dysfunctions are common among men and women in Nigeria, which necessitates regular screening and check-ups,” he said.
