How fraudsters lured me to their den – Ogun lawmaker

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Harrison Adeyemi, has given a clue how fraudsters operating in the thicket of the forest of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area (LGA), Ogun State, lured him to their den.

Adeyemi representing Ogun waterside State Constituency who assisted the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of zone 2, Mr Abdulmajid Ali, and Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command to burst the fraudsters’ den at Siun area of the LGA, on Wednesday said he was duped by the operators of the den.

Two people were arrested in connection with the den while the lawmaker is believed to be their latest victim, having lost N15,000 to them.

Narrating his ordeal in their hands, the lawmaker told reporters that he got airtime worth N1,500 through a text message from one of the fraudsters, but returned it to sender.

“They told me they are ‘Agbomola’ and they could assist me. But I ignored them. They were persistent and I decided to visit them.
“But when I got there, I discovered it was all scam. But I played along with them, they told me to drop money at each shrine point, and I had to drop N1,000 each at 15 points, they introduced to me,” he said.
According Albdumajid Ali, the fraudsters allegedly persuaded the lawmaker to bring another N40m and a lady when next he visit the site.

And when they did not see him after some weeks, they started pestering and threatened him.
Ali added that the fraudsters had been in the business for sometime before they were caught.

He said: “we have got a lot of report about them. And we decided to swoop on them, two of them were arrested and others are at large. “
