The deaths of more than 100 teenagers have been blamed on a sinister social media 'suicide game'.
Police are warning parents and schools to be vigilant about the Blue Whale Challenge, which encourages youngsters to embark on a potentially deadly self-harm challenge for 50 days.
The way teenagers 'win' the disturbing game is the kill themselves at the end of the challenge.
It is reportedly being investigated in Russia as a possible factor in the recent deaths of two teenage girls and is believed to be responsible for the deaths of around 100 youngsters.
A police spokesman told the Cambridge News :

“We are aware of the ‘Blue Whale Challenge’, where the internet is used to target young or vulnerable people.“Our advice to parents around monitoring their child’s internet use remains the same; be vigilant and seek advice if you have any concerns.And schools have been asked to warn parents about the challenge.
A police spokesman added: “We would encourage young people to block or not respond to anything online that makes them feel upset, uncomfortable or threatened."
