54-Year Old Jailed 2-Years For Raping 9-Year Old

A 54-year old man has been sentenced to 2-years imprisonment by a Plateau Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, Jos on Monday for raping a nine-year-old girl.

The judge, Mr Mohammed Yahaya, sentenced the man, Abdullahi Yusuf after he pleaded guilty to the crime and begged the court for leniency.

In his plea, the attributed his actions to the devil.

“It was the devil that made me do it; have mercy on me, I will not do it again,” he pleaded.

Police prosecutor, Insp. U. Edwin, told the court that the accused committed the act on April 20 adding that he lured the girl into his room and forcefully had canal knowledge of her. Not stopping their, Yusuf, also threatened to kill her if she ever mentioned it to anyone.
