Assasins who disgused as parishioners shot priest after morning mass in Lagos

The parish priest at St Thomas Catholic Church Onilekere Ikeja has been murdered by suspected assassins that disguised as parishioners. The priest was assassinated this morning.According to a statement released by the Lagos state police public relations officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, the hoodlums were said to have posed as parishioners, and attended the early morning mass in the church that was conducted by the victim.

After the service they requested to have a dialogue with Rev Father Daniel Nwankwo. The meeting was held outside the church where the priest was later shot by one of hoodlums.

The Rev Father immediately raised an alarm as the hoodlums fled the area scaling through the fence towards an adjoining canal. The Rev Father was immediately taken to LASUTH for medical attention where he is currently being treated and is under stable conditions.

The state commissioner of police, Imohimi Edgal,confirmed the incident and revealed that following his visit to the hospital to check on the Rev. Father, he is doing well and been given adequate medical attention.

Five (5) suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack.
