A woman stabbed her sister’s dog in a rage after the pooch bit her baby.
Stephanie Penado, 26, of Hempstead erupted Monday in her apartment at about 9:30 a.m. after the 2-year-old Siberian Husky, named Rex, attacked her 1-year-old son, Nassau County Police said Wednesday.
Penado grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed the dog several times in the face and back.
According to Long Island Post, Rex had surgery and is recuperating at the North Shore Animal League. The surgery cost up to $2,075, court records show.
Nassau police said the baby suffered a small cut to his face and is fine.
Penado was charged with aggravated cruelty to animal and criminal mischief. She was slated to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
Penado’s sister will not be charged for the dog’s alleged attack on the infant, Nassau police said.
