See How This Mum Saved Her Family From The Grenfell Tower Fire Outbreak

A mother has spoken on how she saved her family from burning Grenfell Tower by running a bath to flood her flat.

Natasha Elcock, 39, was trapped on the 11th floor with her six-year-old daughter and boyfriend as the blaze quickly tore through the tower block.

After being instructed to stay inside their flat, Natasha, who works at John Lewis, decided she needed to take action.

'I let the bathroom flood. It kept the flat damp. It may have saved our lives', she told the Daily Star.

Having waited 90 minutes after being told to stay put, Natasha received another call telling her to get out.

She added: 'We tried the door but it was too hot. We had our little girl on the wet floor and we went to the coldest room.

'The door was buckling and the windows bubbling and cracking.

'It was terrifying.'

Natasha said she phoned for help 'almost 100 times' and was even transferred to call handlers in Glasgow.

Luckily, fire crews were able to reach the trio and they were taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

So far, at least 17 people are confirmed to have died in the blaze that tore through the White City tower.

Many more are still missing and it is feared the death toll could rise above 100.
