According to TMZ, 'Mehgan's "team" contacted a bunch of media outlets planting the story', with the aim of spreading her name and growing her following.The story was circulated in publications including Us Weekly, who claimed that Rob and Chyna had realised that they 'weren't right for each other'.
They also reported that an insider told them Rob and Mehgan were 'holding off going public' with their romance because 'it's still fairly new'.
Shortly after the dating claims were made, Mehgan, who is a reality star in the US show Bad Girls Club, saw her Instagram follower count double to 806,000 within a week.
Mehgan tweeted to her 303,000 followers: 'Although I've been advised not to say anything , I will say,I'm only " Megan something. " I don't control the media but we all know who does (sic)'.
She posted another shortly after, reading: 'I'm just as confused as everyone else.'
