9 die in Tanzania from consuming illegal alcohol

Following the consumption of illegal alcohol, 9 people have been declared dead, several others injured in Tanzania's Dar es Salaam.

Reports have it that the alcohol contained an industrial chemical called 'GV' Gentian violet, which is an antiseptic dye used for the treatment of skin infections.

The use of the chemical was in an attempt to make the liquor more concentrated and attract more customers.
